Sandals, Grande St Lucian - our room and the gardens
The view of the red-roofed buildings of Sandals, Grande St Lucian, from Fort Rodney. Our room was in the Cap Estate building, the tallest one, third from the left.
And the view from Signal Peak, showing the boat dock pier, the wedding pier and the over-water villas causeway. You can also make out the empty plot beyond Sandals, where they are to build a new hotel.
We discovered that, every week, Sandals lay on a staff party at 5pm in the public area between Sandals and Pigeon Island. They put up this marquee and provide food and drinks for their staff.
There are plenty of pictures of the room interiors on Sandals' website, so I'll just show a couple taken from our balcony. This is the view over the main pool and Rodney Bay.
And looking to the right over a quieter pool with jacuzzis to Pigeon Island.
Looking back from the tower in the main pool - our room was on the top-floor at the upper-right.
Again from the tower, looking south over the wedding pier, Rodney Bay and down the west coast of the island.
Sandals do like their fire-pits.
The over-water villas.
There are several gazebos used for weddings around the grounds.
The quiet pool near the over-water villas.
Sandals have put safety-fencing around the empty plot next door, and taken the opportunity to put up sun-shades along the beach.
Looking back along the beach from the over-water villas.
Another view of the beach looking towards Pigeon Island - Fort Rodney on the left-hand peak, Signal Peak on the higher, right-hand peak.
The gardens are full of tropical flowers.
There's bougainvillea everywhere.
The gardeners have done a great job.
