Thudufushi Island
A few seconds after take-off in the seaplane at Malé on our way to Thudufushi. Looking out over the
artificial island of Hulhumalé.
This island didn't exist 20 years ago - it's for Male overspill.
Flying over a coral reef a few minutes later. None of this is above sea-level - you're looking through several metres of crystal-clear Indian Ocean.

The view from the beach outside our villa towards Innafushi. Work progresses slowly on the new luxury resort. Nearly all the water villas now have roofs, and some of them have walls. The rest of the island is a building site, with workers' accommodation consisting of tin shacks mounted on scaffolding poles out over the ocean.
