Days 2 to 4: More views of the Andalucian countryside
Looking back at Zahara at the start of the very long second day's walk.
Huge thistles grew alongside the path.
Everywhere we looked, snails had laboriously clambered to the top of fenceposts, telegraph poles, tree stumps etc in the blistering heat. No idea why.
We'd expected an arid brown landscape. Far from it - it looked like Surrey in places...
View from our balcony at La Huerta Dorotea. The large water tank below the garden rang with the sounds of frogs all night.
Day 3: Prado del Rey to El Bosque. Everywhere meadows were full of wild flowers.
Day 4: Some real altitude at last - up to about 1350m under the Sierra de las Cumbres near Grazalema.
The mountain of Pinar (1654m) on the edge of the pinsapo pine forest.
A pinsapo pine in the Grazalema Nature Park.
Resting beside the trail in the Park.
Why can't I find a softer bit of rock to sit on?
